Make your first edit

Change the homepage heading, check it in Live Preview, and publish the change.

On this page

You'll change the opening heading on the homepage, check how it looks, and make it visible to visitors. Allow about four minutes.

Change the headingLink to this section

  1. Open Pages, then Home. On your own site, open the page your agency identified as the homepage.

  2. In Content, find the hero's Title. This is the large heading visitors see. Page title is the page's name in the Admin, so leave that alone for this exercise.

  3. Replace Title with a short heading. For example, try "Welcome to our website." Use different wording from the current heading so you can spot the change in preview.

  4. Choose Save Draft to keep the change while you review it.

Preview and publishLink to this section

  1. Choose Live Preview, the eye icon beside the save buttons. The website appears alongside the editor. Check that your new heading appears and reads well across its line breaks.

  2. Use the preview's Responsive control to check a smaller screen. Look for awkward wrapping and buttons that are hard to reach. Choose Live Preview again to close the preview when you're done.

  3. Choose Publish changes. Wait for the save to finish and check that the status says Published.

  4. Open the homepage in a separate browser tab and refresh it. If it shows a preview bar, choose Exit preview mode. Check that the heading now matches your edit.

Your heading should appear both in the editor and on the public homepage. Publishing affects visitors immediately. If you spot a typo, return to Home, correct Title, and choose Publish changes again.
