Building a form

Build a form, place it on a page and test the visitor's experience.

On this page

You'll build a reusable form, add it to a page, and send a test response. A form is saved separately from its page, so the same form can be used in several places.

  1. Open Forms and choose Create new Form. Enter a Title that your team will recognize, such as Contact enquiry.

  2. Select Add Field and choose the kind of question you need.

  3. Enter the field's Label. This is the question visitors see. Add a Placeholder if an example would help. Tick Required only when you need an answer before the form can be sent.

  4. Add the remaining questions. Keep the form short. For choices, use clear option labels. Leave each question's ID (lowercase, uppercase, numbers, no special characters) unchanged after people start submitting answers. It identifies the answer in stored responses and exports.

  5. Set Submit Button Title, for example Send enquiry.

  6. Choose Confirmation Type. Message shows a thank-you message; Redirect sends the visitor to another page or address. Write a useful Confirmation Message or choose the redirect destination.

  7. Select Save. Updating a saved form can affect every page using it.

Field or choiceWhat it doesTip
TextA short written answer.Use it for a name or a short question.

Add it to a pageLink to this section

  1. Open the page in Pages and place the cursor where the form should appear in Content.

  2. Open the blocks menu at the left of the toolbar and choose Form.

  3. In Select a form, choose the form you saved.

  4. Use Publish changes when the page is ready. Open the public page and fill in a test answer.

  5. Send the test. Check the confirmation and find the response in Form Submissions. If notification emails are set up, also check their destination inbox.

Check every question, required-field message and confirmation. Try the page on a phone. Confirm that the response appears in submissions; a visible form alone does not prove that responses reach you.
