Editing content
Write and format page text, add links and lists, and insert buttons, chips, icons, and avatars.
On this page
You'll use the rich text editor to write paragraphs, give them a structure, and add links or small items such as buttons. The toolbar applies to the text area you are editing.
Write and format textLink to this section
- Open a page and click in its Content text area. Inside a collapsed block, expand it first. A smaller field may say Click to edit… until you click it.
- Type your text. Press Enter to start a new paragraph.
- Select the words you want to format. Use the bold, italic, underline, or strikethrough icon. Choose the same icon again to remove that formatting.
- Click in a paragraph and choose an alignment icon when you need left, center, right, or justified text.
The floating toolbar appears when you select text. The fixed toolbar stays above larger text areas. Small fields, such as a quote or hero description, have fewer choices.
| Control | What it does | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Bold | Gives selected words emphasis. | Keep whole paragraphs easy to read by using it sparingly. |
| Italic | Changes selected words to italic. | Useful for titles or brief emphasis. |
| Underline | Underlines selected words. | Visitors may mistake underlined text for a link. |
| Strikethrough | Draws a line through selected words. | Use only when the crossed-out wording should remain visible. |
| Alignment icons | Align the paragraph left, center, right, or justified. | Follow the surrounding layout. |
| Balance text icon | Adjusts wrapping to balance lines. | Preview the result at different widths. |
| Indent icons | Increase or decrease indentation where available. | Useful for nested list items. |
| Horizontal rule icon | Inserts a dividing line. | Use a divider only where it helps separate content. |
Headings and text stylesLink to this section
- Click in the paragraph you want to change.
- Open the text menu, which normally says Normal Text.
- Choose a heading level or text style. The whole paragraph takes that style.
| Choice | What it does | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Text | Makes an ordinary paragraph. | Use for most body copy. |
| Heading 1 | Makes the main page heading. | A page's hero usually already supplies this. Avoid adding another main heading. |
| Heading 2 through Heading 6 | Mark sections and smaller subsections. | Choose by the structure of your writing, not just the size of the letters. |
| Lead Text | Makes an introductory paragraph stand out. | Use for a short introduction. |
| Small Text | Makes supporting text smaller. | Useful for short notes; keep essential information readable. |
| Label | Adds a short label style. | Use a few words above a heading, not a long paragraph. |
Your agency may offer additional text styles. Use the choices in your toolbar. A heading's level and its visual style serve different purposes, so preview the result rather than using a heading just to enlarge text.
Add a text linkLink to this section
- Select the words that should be clickable. Use descriptive text such as "View our services".
- Choose the link icon. In Edit Link, check Text to display.
- Choose Custom URL to enter an address, or Internal Link to select a page or other available content. Enter the destination in the field that appears.
- Use Open in new tab only when you want that behavior. Choose Save changes.
Click an existing link to reach Edit link or Remove link. Removing a link keeps its words. Test the destination in preview before publishing.
Make a listLink to this section
- Click in a paragraph and open the text menu.
- Choose Unordered List for bullets, Ordered List for numbered steps, or Check List for checkbox items.
- Type an item, press Enter, and type the next one. Press Enter on an empty item to leave the list.
- Use the indent controls when a list needs a second level.
Use numbered lists when order matters. Use bullets when the items are equal. A checklist in page content is different from a form submission field.
Insert a button, chip, icon, or avatarLink to this section
- Put the cursor where the item should appear in the text.
- Open the inline items menu beside the blocks menu. Choose Button, Chip, Icon, or Avatar.
- Complete its drawer and choose Save changes. Saving the drawer updates the page editor; it does not publish the page.
- Use the item's edit control to reopen its settings later.
| Item | What it does | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Button | Adds a call to action with a link. | Use an action label such as "Book a visit" and check the destination. |
| Chip | Adds a short badge, with an optional link. | Keep the label short. |
| Icon | Adds a symbol chosen from the icon picker. | Use accompanying words when a symbol alone would be unclear. |
| Avatar | Adds a small image. | Select a suitable library image. |
See Blocks for their settings. A Stack can arrange several of these items together.
