We refactored Systhema’s Payload Lexical editor architecture to be drastically simpler. Removed the old “blocks” and “columns” editors from the previous setup, these have been consolidated into a unified, safer region-level editor, eliminating unnecessary duplication and making editor configuration easier and clearer.

We now have a clear, intentional 4-tier model:

• ROOT: Full toolset for page/component-level authoring
• REGION: Content regions with explicit opt-in for nesting
• FRAGMENT: Small rich text fields for reusable blocks (e.g., card, accordion, richText)
• SLOT: Minimal editor for single-purpose fields (e.g., quote, footer content)
