Navigation
Edit the shared Header and Footer to add page links, organize menus, and update footer information.
On this page
You'll change the links visitors use to move around your website. Header and Footer are shared settings under Globals. Publishing a change here can affect every page.
A new page does not automatically appear in navigation. Publish the page first, then add a link where visitors need it.
Add a Header linkLink to this section
- Open Header in the Admin menu, then choose Navigation.
- Choose Add Item. Set Item Type to Link.
- Enter Label, the words visitors see in the menu.
- Choose Internal Link to select a page, or Custom URL to enter an address. For a custom address on your own site, use its page path, such as
/about. - Keep Open in new tab clear for ordinary site navigation. Choose Save Draft while reviewing, then Publish changes.
| Header field | What it does | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Item Type | Chooses Link or Sub Navigation. | Use Link for one destination. |
| Label | Sets the visible menu words. | Keep labels short and familiar. |
| Link Type | Chooses a typed address or a page or other content. | An internal selection avoids typing a page address by hand. |
| Enter a URL | Holds the custom destination. | Use a full address for another website. |
| Open in new tab | Opens the destination separately. | Use only when that is useful to visitors. |
| Call to Actions | Holds the Header's prominent action links or buttons. | Keep the main action easy to identify. |
Organize the HeaderLink to this section
Use the drag handle on an item to change its order. Collapse All and Show All help with longer menus. An item's menu offers row actions; check the item before removing it.
Choose Sub Navigation when you need a group of links under one menu label. Give the group a clear label and add its child links in the fields that appear. Check the menu on both desktop and a smaller screen.
For a prominent action such as booking or contacting you, open Call to Actions. Review the button title, appearance, and destination before publishing.
Edit Footer linksLink to this section
- Open Footer in the menu and choose Navigation.
- Choose Add Item, enter Label, and complete Link Type and its destination.
- Review the order, save a draft, then choose Publish changes when ready.
| Footer tab or field | What it does | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Content | Holds the Footer's text and available inline items. | Keep shared footer copy brief. |
| Navigation | Holds the Footer's page links. | Include useful destinations rather than every page. |
| Label | Sets the visible link words. | Make the destination clear. |
| Link Type | Chooses a custom address or an internal destination. | Check the selected page before saving. |
| Socials | Holds links to your social profiles. | Choose Add Link, select an icon, and enter the profile URL. |
| Copyright | Holds the shared copyright wording. | Check the organization name and year. |
Check afterwardsLink to this section
Open the public site after publishing. Check the Header menu and Footer on more than one page. Follow each changed link and test the smaller-screen menu. The link should open a published page, and the label should match what visitors find there.
If a shared change needs to be undone, use Versions on the Header or Footer and review the earlier version before restoring it. See Drafts and versions.
