Authors

Choose the author shown on an article and understand author and publisher permissions.

On this page

The Author field links an article to a user account. If bylines are enabled, the account's name appears on the public article. Editing permissions depend on the person's role, not on the name shown in the byline.

Set an article's authorLink to this section

  1. Open an article in Posts.

  2. Find Author in the sidebar and choose the correct person.

  3. Save the draft or use Publish changes when ready.

  4. Open the public article and check the byline.

If the person's name is missing from the picker, ask an administrator to check their account. If the spelling is wrong, correct the account name; do not create a second account just for a byline.

Open General Settings → Posts and review Show author byline. This is a setting for the whole blog. A selected author may still matter for editing access even when the public byline is hidden.

Check afterwardsLink to this section

Check the public name and whether a date appears alongside it. Ask the person responsible for publication to confirm the article is ready before publishing on their behalf.
